One thing that bugs a lot of tourists visiting Cebu is the illegal and uncontrolled overpriced Taxi fares at the Airport relying on several factors :-
- You don’t know the area.
- You don’t know the price structure.
- Its not a lot of money to you.
- Your too tired to haggle.
A friend of mine recently paid P600 to travel on a journey that is not only just P200 but its also heading to another major location where it is easy to get another passenger for the taxi driver so its not as if he needed to make up a return journey he is already making a good earning both ways.
So I thought what is the best way round this? There is heading upto the departure entrance (cross the road and up the ramp) as you will get someone looking to get back to the provinces. But what if you want a day out or regular transportation?
So my solution was pretty simple and straight forward. One of Aprils uncles is a hire car/van owner/operator. But also the vehicles are well maintained and ill post the current rates so you know what you are paying for. No haggling no messing around and a full day rental is P2,000 + Drivers lunch for upto 10 hrs for car and P3,000 + Drivers lunch for Van (photos below).
No messing around and can even do the airport runs etc. so takes the hassles out of a holiday vacation. Or if your here longer term but not wanting to buy a car or drive gives you the opportunity to have a good reliable owner driver in a nice vehicle available rather than some of the taxis which are nothing more than death traps (not all due to the old taxis starting to be phased out in Cebu in replacement of the newer vehicles). But it does make life a lot easier and without the worry of organising transportation.
